Wilmington Machinery announces its newest low pressure plastic pallet injection molding machine, the LUMINA Model PM-3C. Like its predecessors, the new machine processes 100% plastics even in flake form. Compared to single mold machines, the conversion cost on a dual mold machine is approximately 40% less per pallet. Low cost raw material and low conversion cost are essential to producing the lowest-cost plastic pallets.

The PM-3C comes standard with a 675 ton press capable of molding pallets up to 48” x 52” size weighing up to 40 pounds each. It has a HDPE melting capacity of 2400 lbs/hr., sufficient to produce up to 80 pallet per hour and over 600,000 pallets per year. It is available for hot runner molds or the classic external multi-nozzle structural foam injection methods. Either method is capable of gas assist or gas counter pressure molding techniques.

The new machine boasts a small footprint, low-energy consumption, and highest quality construction. It has a two-stage injection unit (extruder/accumulator standard with bimetallic barrels and long-life feed screws. It is controlled by either and Allen Bradley or a Beckhoff PLC and actuated by Rexroth hydraulic components and an electric driven extruder making it a hybrid machine.

The new PM-3C machine is believed to be the lowest cost dual mold machine produced worldwide. It provides an excellent return on investment and is available as a molding machine with molds only or as a totally integrated pallet production system complete with robotics, resin blending/loading, mold cooling and other accessories.

Wilmington Machinery has built pallet molding machinery and integrated molding systems for nearly 50 years. The new PM-3C joins the Wilmington lineup of both horizontal and vertical low pressure injection molding machinery with press capacities up to 2500 tons and injection capacities up to 300 pounds with melting capacities up to 6000 lbs./hr. The company is located in a modern 65,000SF plant in the Atlantic port city of Wilmington, North Carolina. It has a worldwide customer base for both its injection molding and blow molding machinery.
